Terms of business.
DRAFT. These terms are a plain-English working draft and are pending review by a solicitor. They state how we intend to work; where a signed proposal or order says otherwise, the signed document wins.
1. Who you are dealing with
“We” are Echo Chain Ltd, a company in the United Kingdom, trading as Built By Ghosts. “You” are the business commissioning work from us. Contact: the Get in touch form in the navigation above.
2. What we deliver
We design, build and operate websites and related digital services. Each engagement is defined by the package you order (for example Launch, Pro or Phantom) and the written scope that accompanies it. We only publish content you have confirmed as accurate; we do not invent reviews, credentials or claims for your business.
3. Payment
Prices are stated at order. Build packages are payable as set out in the order (deposit and/or balance before go-live). Care plans are billed monthly and can be cancelled with one month's notice. Prices exclude VAT unless stated otherwise.
4. Your content and ownership
You keep ownership of your business content (text, images, branding you supply). On full payment, you own your site's content and design as delivered. We may retain and reuse non-identifying build tooling, templates and engineering. Domain names registered for you are registered in your name or transferred to you on request.
5. Our work and reasonable limits
We build carefully and test what we ship. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for content you supplied, or for outages caused by third-party platforms (hosting, domains, payment providers) beyond our control. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
6. Cancellation
You can cancel a build before work starts for a full refund of any deposit. Once work has started, we keep what covers the work done and refund the rest. Either side can end a care plan with one month's written notice.

We handle personal data as described in our privacy notice.
